Rose Room gets its name from Benny Goodman’s 1939 swing hit. The ensemble plays golden age jazz from the turn-of-the-century to the mid-20th Century.
Singer-songwriter Adam Levy has always quoted the Great American Songbook in his work with The Honeydogs. His new muse, Rose Room, steers clear of the hackneyed “standards” and explores off-the-beaten-track early swing, tin pan alley, bossa nova, Western Swing, bebop, and international offshoots from greats and unknowns.
The lineup features singer-songwriter Ashleigh Still on vocals, Joe Savage (Prairie Home Companion, Wits) on pedal steel guitar & vocals, Alex Young (The Farewell Circuit) on drums, deVon Gray (Heiruspecs, Brother Ali, Chastity Brown) on piano, Jon Davis (Black Audience) on bass clarinet, Ben Kelly (John Mark Nelson, Sexy Delicious)) on standup bass, and Levy on guitar and vocals.
